Unity

Grid
  • Divides an area to create a certain framework of ideas
  • Example: The outdoor area

Gestalt
  • Theory of visual psychology
  • This bookcase looks like a simple bookcase but it serves as a hidden door as well

Visual Perception
  • Organization to relate to various elements
  • This staircase is simple and white like it's surroundings

Ways to achieve unity
 Continuation
  • A certain element that continues
  • The green repeats in this bedroom

 Proximity
  • To make separate items look as if they belong together

Repetition
  • Pattern that makes things relate to each other
  • All the tan items seem as if they match although they are all different

 Variety
  • Although nothing matches it still looks appealing because there are accents of every color everywhere

Varied Repetition
  • The colors are repeated but there is a variety with the pink accents
  • Adds visual interest by showing some variation
